3 Simple Things

When we were back home this past weekend I had the privilege of listening to a good sermon. The pastor says he does 3 simple things when he prays.

1.  Thank God
 - No matter what is going on in our lives, there is always something to be thankful for. It can be something big like a job promotion, new house or new baby. But often times when you think of the small things is when you really began to appreciate all we have. If you sit back and think of all the things we have, we are truly living in luxury. Take one minute and look around you and all you have to be thankful for - hundreds if not thousands of blessings surround us.

2.  Ask for Forgiveness
 - This can be asking for forgiveness from God or from others or from ourselves. While God already knows our short comings it is still a good idea to bring them to mind to remind us where we can improve and where we need God's help.

3.  Ask God to keep us in touch with Him
- Believe it or not I find this one pretty difficult. Maybe not the actual asking, but more of the actual doing. It is so easy in this busy world to forget to take time each day to pray or read the Bible or help those in need. Sometimes I'd rather play a game on my phone, watch TV or read a book but I don't get the same effects if I do those things. I need keep my priorities in check and make sure to find a few minutes each day to keep in touch.
