Debt and good food

Random fact for the day - the US budget is now at 14.3 trillion dollars. According to http://www.mint.com/blog/finance-core/visualizing-one-trillion-dollars/ - to equal one trillion dollars would mean spending one dollar per second for 32,000 years. I can barely imagine what $1 million is ...so I won't even take a chance at $1 trillion. All I know is that is a lot of trouble to get out of. I know Obama is proposing some cuts but in all honesty does it really matter? I suppose $10 trillion is better than $14 trillion, but still. Scary stuff.

On to the good food part. I was just thinking the other day about some foods that I've tried over the past few years. Two stood out in my mind - pineapple and avocados. Now I should clarify "fresh pineapple." I tried canned pineapple and never liked it when I was younger so I never bothered to try the fresh stuff - boy was I missing out. I'm addicted! Although I do have say I can't eat too much at a time or my mouth gets raw but that is beside the point. It just goes to show that for the most part fresh is way better than canned. On the other hand, I don't ever remember trying avocados when I was younger. I'm not sure what made me buy one last year but I did and I'm hooked. My favorite is to mash it up with a little lemon juice and garlic power for a quick dip or just cut it up and put in on a salad. It has such a good flavor and is a great way to get in my healthy fats for the day.

I wonder how many avocados I could buy with $14.3 trillion dollars?  =)
